It’s funny talking about being 6 weeks pregnant when I’ve only known for less than 2 weeks and only really week pregnant for maybe about 4?
No one tells you how much food pregnant women are not allowed to eat! sandwich meat, cold chicken, soft serve ice-cream, soft cheeses, runny eggs, pre-packaged salads, anything that might have been sitting out too long! I feel like I’m struggling a bit with my diet and getting a variety of foods during the day. My husband used to be a chef and cooks me dinner all the time so that’s always yummy and nutritious. He’s been really careful with what he’s feeding me as well.
Physically I’m feeling really good. Earlier on I had really sore boobs and major fatigue but these symptoms have calmed down. Now, I think I’m peeing more, I’m waking up in the middle of the night to pee then can’t go back to sleep! I have a bit of baby brain going on, some mild cramping here and there, quite hungry all the time. Every now and then I feel a little bit nauseous but no vomiting yet, hooray!
Mentally, I’m getting better. I’m a really anxious person and as much as I try to stay positive, I always expect the worse. Every time I go to the bathroom I’m checking for blood and signs of a miscarriage, every time I eat something I probably shouldn’t I feel like I’m hurting the baby. I have been convinced that I’m not going to make it to 12 weeks. Even now that my physical symptoms have died down I start thinking it’s because the baby’s not growing anymore. Horrible I know but I just can’t help it. I think it will get better the further along it goes, especially after 12 weeks.
On the 12th November, when I’m 8 weeks, I’ll be getting my first ultrasound. I’m pretty excited for that. I think if that goes well my mind will rest a little easier as well.
