15+4

Yet again, a long time between posts! I am currently 15 weeks and 3 days.

It’s 3rd January 2019 and it was just Christmas and New Years. Drew and I spent a week over Christmas with my family in Kootingal near Tamworth, NSW. They live on a beautiful 160 acre property and it’s such a relaxing place to be.

After that we visited our friends Coxy and Louise in Coffs Harbour and spent NYE with them. It was my first sober NYE in a while! I’m actually enjoying feeling healthy and not having hangovers! There were a couple of really hot days while we were away and a cider would have been amazing but other than that I don’t miss drinking all that much.

We got to tell Coxy and Louise the news in person, which we have been trying to do with all of our friends. We have told quite a few people the news in person but still not shared anything on social media. We are visiting a friend in Melbourne in a couple of weeks who we will tell, then in a few weeks we will find out if it’s a girl or a boy! After that we will announce on social media.

I’m really looking forward to finding out if it’s a girl or a boy. I feel like I will bond a bit more with my bump after that. I can think more about names, clothes, nursery decorating! Everyone keeps telling us not to find out but that has never crossed mine or Drew’s mind. We want to know! At the moment we feel like it’s a boy….

I’m still feeling pretty good. Still a bit tired, sore back and muscles now and then. I had the WORST heartburn one night in Coffs Harbour but it hasn’t returned thankfully, it was awful!! My tummy is getting bigger and rounder (especially after I eat!) but I’m still in that chubby looking stage. No obvious ‘definitely pregnant” bump.

I have my first hospital appointment next Friday. I’m weirdly looking forward to it. Drew will be coming with me, I’m not sure what to expect.

I had an ultrasound and down syndrome test at 12 weeks and everything was normal. 1 in almost 10,000 risk for down syndrome which is relieving. Physically everything looked good, measuring normal etc. Somehow I’m still paranoid that something will go wrong… I don’t know why.

The only slightly abnormal thing was my thyroid. It’s a bit underactive I think. The way the doctor explained it was that it was working extra hard to produce the minimum amount of whatever hormone it produces. I’m seeing the doctor tomorrow so she’ll let me know if I have to take any supplements. I also had kind of low Vitamin D, but that should be better now after all the sun I got over Christmas!

Anyway…. it’s Friday night and I’m binge watching Sex & The City. Drew is still on holidays because he doesn’t have to go back to work yet, lucky thing. I’ll be going to bed soon. Goodnight!
